World Book Day

Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day, and as always Kepier have celebrated this event with a week long literature festival.

The theme this year was 'Out of this World', and on Thursday staff and learners were encouraged to dress up as their favourite character to fit this theme. As well as this, Miss Hall, our Literacy Lead,
spoke in assemblies to remind learners how literature and reading can take you 'out of this world; ran literacy workshops throughout the week; and we had a 'Drop Everything and Read' session on Thursday, when all our Key Stage 3 learners spent one lesson reading a book of their choice.

With the modern world offering an ever increasing range of leisure activities for young people, we feel it important to remind children of the pleasures of reading, together with the benefits it brings, and the week long literacy festival is a fun way of doing that.
