Today, the City of Sunderland Youth Jazz Orchestra (COSYJO) performed at the civic centre in front of an audience consisting of the Mayor, civic leaders, council staff and members of the public.
Cosyjo is made up of pupils from several secondary schools across the city, including five learners from Kepier. They are rehearsed and conducted by our Head of Music John Hall, and come into Kepier on Sundays and evenings throughout the year to practice, all of them giving up a great deal of their free time.
In the hour long performance today, they played a range of Christmas favourites, with Kepiers peripatetic music teacher Andy Moon playing and singing.
As well as Cosyjo, the day featured performances by Ryhope Infants School choir, and pupils from Barbara Priestman school who played and sang.
