Kepier Dance Show

Kepier has this week hosted it's annual dance show, a much loved and enjoyed part of our school year.

This years show, entitled 'Once Upon a Dance', was held over two nights this week in front of around 200 guests on each evening. It featured a wide range of dance, performed by around 70 of our learners from across all our year groups.

The event takes a great deal of organising and rehearsing, with our PE Teacher and Dance Specialist Miss Chambers coming in on several weekends in the build up with those involved to practice. Miss Chambers said "all those involved should be proud of themselves, not just for their performances on the night but also for giving up so much of their spare time."

Sunderland Young Achievers Awards 2017

Kepier were delighted to have five of it's young people recognised at this years Sunderland Young Achievers Awards.

Mitchell from Year 7 won his award in the Highly Commended Category for Personal Achievement; Tom from Year 8 won the 8 - 13 years old Music and Performing Arts Award; and Dylan, Frazer and Brandon , together with Olivia from St. Anthony's school, won the 14 - 20 years old Music and Performing Arts Award with their band 'Saturn Highway'.

Understandably, Kepier are immensely proud of the achievements of these young people, and Principal Nicky Cooper said "our 'Young Achievers' demonstrate what determination, hard work and passion can result in. Their success is well deserved."

Tom commented "I love performing, in front of a live audience", and Dylan from 'Saturn Highway' said "the nerves you get before going on stage give you the edge you need to perform well."

Mitchell said "I had a great time at the awards, and loved every minute of the night."
