Scottish Swimming Championships

Harry, one of our Year 8 learners, has recently achieved incredible success at the Scottish Swimming Championships, held in Aberdeen from 29th - 31st March 2017.

Despite only taking up competitive swimming three years ago, Harry won two gold medals (50m free and 200m back); 3 silver medals (100m free, 100m back, 100m fly); and 2 bronze medals (50m fly and 200m fly), as well as reaching all the finals in every U13 years event he entered and setting personal bests in every race.

Harry trains for a minimum of 11 hours a week, still managing to fit in his schooling and homework around this. His Head of Year Mr. Coxon said "you would never know the amount of time and effort Harry has to put in out of school for his sport, as he never complains, never misses homework and is as committed to his school work as he is to his swimming."

Principal Mrs. Cooper said "Harry shows real dedication and am am so proud of his success at the Scottish Nationals.  He has a great future ahead of him!"

Harry himself commented "I was really surprised at how well I did at the championships, but it proves that with determination and dedication you can achieve so much success."

Kepier Dance Show

Kepier has this week hosted it's annual dance show, a much loved and enjoyed part of our school year.

This years show, entitled 'Once Upon a Dance', was held over two nights this week in front of around 200 guests on each evening. It featured a wide range of dance, performed by around 70 of our learners from across all our year groups.

The event takes a great deal of organising and rehearsing, with our PE Teacher and Dance Specialist Miss Chambers coming in on several weekends in the build up with those involved to practice. Miss Chambers said "all those involved should be proud of themselves, not just for their performances on the night but also for giving up so much of their spare time."
